Sailing

At my first sailing practice in High School, I was totally alone. I was the only kid from the local public school on the team. Everyone else went to the private school. In addition, I was a novice sailor. With the help of an enthusiastic physics teacher and a few kind (future!) friends, I quickly learned how to sail a 420. From there, I grew by leaps and bounds. I was eventually asked by a new sailing coach to become an instructor at Devon Yacht Club. I was delighted to share my passion for sailing.

I used to be a Level 1 USA Sailing Certified Instructor. I have sailed Optis, 420s, Lasers, Sunfish, Mercuries, JY 15s, J70s, J109s, and Alerions.

Community Boating Incorporated - Boston

After moving to Boston, I joined Community Boating Incorporated (CBI). This lovely local community sailing center has allowed me to continue and share my passion of sailing. I often take friends out racing, or pick up new people off the dock and help them develop their skills.

Devon Yacht Club - Amagansett

After sailing at Breakwater, I was asked to become a sailing instructor at Devon Yacht Club, a private club. I taught kids 8 and up how to sail, starting on Optis and growing into 420s and Lasers. I was also responsible for trailering boats to regattas and driving several power boats. I learned how to run a regatta, and had a blast sharing my passion for sailing.

Breakwater Yacht Club - Sag Harbor

My first experience at Breakwater was for a week when I was young. I sailed JY 15s in a summer program. Coming back in High School, I started on 420s. Then a local owner invited me to crew on his J109. From there, friends and I would race the club owned J70s. I also did Ice Breaker Regattas, where I learned how to sail a Laser in chilly conditions!
